All Summer LONG is back for the third year in a row! This explosively popular series of free (and nearly free!) programming has set the Austin Summer on fire! Last year, more than 95,000 people participated, and this year is sure to be even hotter! With ‘Austin’s Best Downtown View’ as the backdrop, these events offer the perfect setting for families, friends, first dates and more.
The Long Center of Performing Arts has a fun-filled line-up for this summer’s festivities. From proven favorites like Sound & Cinema, Rhythm on Stage and Bubblepalooza!, to new experiences like our The Jones Family Singers Gospel Brunch and Dell Hall: Dance Hall, this summer there is truly something for everyone at the Long Center.
Austin’s favorite dance studios, dance bands, and local businesses have joined forces to create Austin’s next great dance hall, Dell Hall: Dance Hall. Dancing to the rhythms of Salsa, Soul, and even a vintage prom — all on our main stage in Dell Hall! Dell Hall Dance Hall Sponsored by Gables Park Tower.
Looking to brush up on those dance moves first? Then get ready for Rhythm on Stage! We’ve partnered with the Ballet Austin to offer free dance lessons on the Dell Hall stage! Learn different kinds of dances by dancing with the pros, featuring instruction by a professionals from Ballet Austin’s Butler Community School.
Maybe dancing isn’t your thing, so how about eating? This June the Long Center is proud to host the Jones Family Singers for a special Father’s Day Gospel Brunch, served on the Meredith Family Stage in Dell Hall. Treat your family to something special this Father’s day, and get your tickets early before they’re gone — only a limited amount are available.
Our favorite Summer family event, Bubblepalooza! returns for its third year on Saturday, June 14th. Our free annual celebration of open play, everyone is invited to spend time on our City Terrace and expansive lawns enjoying live music, chalk art, trailer food — and of course, tons of bubbles. This year will feature even more fun with special appearances by ERTH’s Dinosaur Petting Zoo’s T-Rex!
The 2014 season of Trailer Food Tuesdays started in April and will take place through October. Bring your picnic blanket and an appetite, because 10-12 trucks will be rolling onto the City Terrace each time. Try popular local favorites and enjoy something new every last Tuesday of the month. Family-friendly entertainment and music will be provided, and come early to take part in a free Camp Gladiator work-out!
Once again the Long Center has teamed up with Do512 and The Alamo Drafthouse to present Sound & Cinema! Bands will perform a tribute to a movie, followed by the film itself shown on The Alamo’s giant inflatable outdoor screen. The events are all free, for all ages and open to the public. Seating on the lawn is available on a first come/first serve basis, and there will be a collection of food trucks and other vendors serving soft drinks as well as alcoholic beverages to guests on the Long Center plaza.
